Can someone please tell me how this works?

According to the news yesterday a bloke with 11 kids has volutarily left his job because he is better off on benefits, and he still gets job seekers allowance!!!!


Are we going mad in country?Can someone please tell me how this works?
It works because our government allows it!!!!!


My husband and I both work we pay our taxes and have a good life but we get nothing for free....


My ex chooses not to work as he refuses to pay child support for our one daughter so my husband and I provide everything for her.He now has two more children from another partner who he also provides nothing for I have took him to court but he fails to show....it is now been years since he contributed ANYTHING yet nothing is being done.


Seems to me the harder we work the more we have to hand over to give to the people who willfully for whatever reason choose to sit at home

I don't think he would be allowed to get benefits if he packed his job in , he would be suspended .
Uai, here in Brazil it's not possible, the Government's benefits are not enough to support an 11 children family. It's a rich country, but we don't see this great richness. The only benefit which may help is the retirement... I believe that's possible in Europe 'cause the help came from the Gov. is great and enough to support his family. Maybe if you have a low to avoid these situations you'd not see cases like that...

when you leave your job of your own volition, you have to wait a set period of time before the ES will let you claim. The probability is he will be living off his child tax credit. Ive been on both sides of the desk as it were, and there are people who shouldnt be claiming
To be fair this is quite common and is a reflection of the system in this country. The borderline between a low paying job were you work loads of hours and benefits in terms of monetary value is very small. Earning two-hundred pound a work working forty hours you will get little more than you would not working at all and you could probably get your council rent paid too.





The current system does not encourage you enough to work if you are on a low wage really, despite the tax credits system, those on a low wage are often no better off. Those on a bit more do benefit from the system but it needs reviewing if we want to stop people jacking in work.
I`d love to know how these people get all these benefits.


I`ve been unable to work since 1995 - an accident at work - and the benefit I get all goes to food and the bills.

he only gets so much money coz he has so many children bcoz my bf was out of work and looking for ages to he claimed job seekser for about a month until he found something but he only got 拢60 every 2 weeks !!!
In the states we call it Breeding for dollars. The more you breed the more money you get.
This is a disgrace. I pay my taxes to keep these people like most of you do, so why should they be allowed to get away with it. No work no pay should be the motto of this government. I am not talking about people who genuinely can't work through accident, or illness.
id also love to no how that works to coz i thought if u give ur job up u cant claim benifits but i guess its one rule one person and one rule for others
all i can say is UTTER MADNESS.. if why he did it is true then the government should have supplemented the balance of the difference. which would have been loads and loads cheaper.





the govt once promised to see that we all had enough to live and supplement any ones pay to a national average. that way none of us would need to do this kind of thing. what happened to the promise. this is why this shite happens
