I was interested in spray on insulation and was wondering how it works.
Is this a do-it-yourself project?

Spray on insulation can be difficult. This is not something to do

yourself, I recommend hiring a contractor. I found this site, that will have more information.

It is very toxic and can not be done by an amature.

Consider some other form of isulation
That crap is toxic. To decide if this is something that you want to tackle, the first order of business is read all the instructions, the WARNINGS and precautions on the container. You might be wise to talk to someone at a builder supply store about it. If you're going to do it yourself, be sure and wear proper protective clothing, gloves, and a chemical mask.
This is a good form of insulation that should really omly be done by a professional because nothing is wasted because it seals in and out everything and watever is lost is sucked up in a vaccum and reused. This a lot better than your typical insulation I had it put in a house and i highly recommend it
That would depend of the size project you are doing. Most spray foam that comes in a can only expands 4 to 5 times the size of the can. It will adhere to just about everything.
I worked in a factory that used foam insulation inside refrigerator doors, it was VERY flammable,

put a match to a large piece %26amp; it went up in seconds.
Yes you can, just follow the instructions that come with the kit. Where people get into trouble is they try to take short cuts to save time.

Depending on where you live, wait until its warm so that you can put a 20'; box fan in the window to draw fresh air through the house.

I've used in the basement of an existing home to seal the joist around the perimeter of the house. It made the basement feel about 5-10 degrees warmer in the winter because there was no cold drafts coming from those areas.

A bob vila video on it.
