Suggest a procedure to separate iron filings from sawdust. Explain why this procedure works?

Please do answer. Thanks in advance.Suggest a procedure to separate iron filings from sawdust. Explain why this procedure works?
Yeah, like the others said, using a magnet is the best way to do this. It works because the iron is magnetic (being a metal) and is therefore attracted to the magnet, whereas the sawdust is not a metal, so isn't attracted to the magnet.Suggest a procedure to separate iron filings from sawdust. burn the composition, and the iron should be all that is left over.
Use a magnet. The iron wil stick to the magnet and the sawdust will not, because sawdust is wood and iron is metal. Pretty self- explanatory form there. =]
use a magnet
If you don't have a magnet handy, dump the mixture into a glass of water. The filings will sink; the sawdust will float.
Well the simple way of doing this is by using a strong magnet. simle and easy!
