Why do you think this site works?

I mean, why do you think people actually will actually spend precious seconds of their lives answering other people's questions?

Every once in a while I begin to type out an answer and then quit because I don't feel like doing it. Or if they request a site which would take 10 seconds for them to google themselves, I don't feel like finding it.

So why does this site work? Why are there so many good Samaritains? What do you think? Why do you think this site works?
For some it is a way of sharing expertise. For others, it allows spouting off their opinions. For others it is like conversation and fulfills a social need. For others it seems to be a method for fending off boredom. Why do you think this site works?
because, you might be bored, and while your answering questions, you might find a question that you don't know the answer to and would like to know, so then you could see what other people say.
i think it helps people they dont know u and wont judge u there r alot of good advice infact i feel better after i read the answer and when i give a good answer i feel like ive helped that person
A lot of questions about life etc. are hard to ';google'; and people want to hear opinions of others. Also, it is fun to help sometimes, meet new people and ask your own questions
BOREDOM
a lot of reasons....but I think pride is one of them....meaning....those who answer... like to see their opinion matters to someone (10 POINTS!)....and even if it does not matter to someone their answer is bound to get read by a few... if not many...a lot of people like to mask ';the pride'; with ';oh I am helping someone...but in fact their feeding their own ego....what do you think?
you can ask any question anonymously.
I believe that it is the human spirit. Not to love and be loved, nor life itself. The spirit of sharing knowledge that so few of us present in this day and age. We feel as if we need to give back to the community, to share knowledge, and sometimes brag and candor =). But really, spending just a few minutes of your life each day to make someone's day brighter, their minds happier, and a reason to pass on the knowledge and goodwill of man.

Either that or boredom.......... =)
