Yesterday I was watching a movie (I don't know the name of if) it was about Hussein. In the movie he he says something about the war with Iran and later he mentions something about Arabs %26amp; Arabs wars I guess referring to Kuwait.
Well to my understanding majority of the population in Iran is Islamic %26amp; the politically correct name of Iran is ';Islamic Republic of Iran'; so if they are islamic why aren't they consider Arabs?
is there a difference between Islamic %26amp; Muslim ?Why arent Iranians consider Arabs? or can some explain how this works?
The name Arabs is used by people who do not know the difference - or because it is so much easier - to designate all the Middle East people but this is only a lazy use of the word.
Arab cover only a part of the Middle East, and come originally from the Arabic peninsula. They invaded most of the western part of the Middle East.
Iranians are Persians, not Arabic. Their origin is on the other side of the Persian Gulf, what is now known as Iran.
Just like Italians and Swedes are white but have different origins the Arabs and Persians are not the same people either. What Hussein was saying was that Iranians are Persian and Iraquis are Arabs.
Islam, on the other hand is a religion and is found all over the world, and is not tied to racial origins. Most Iranians are Muslims but you also find people who are Christians, descended from the first Christians before Islam swept over the whole Middle East. Why arent Iranians consider Arabs? or can some explain how this works?
Many Iranians are Arabs, however, many are also Persian, and Persians are not Arabs.
It is a racial classification, so according to you what are the 4 racial classifications?
Arab is not used only for those who speak Arabic, because many people speak Arabic and are not Arab. Arabs are the non-Jewish semitic population of the middle-east.
Not all Muslims are Arab, in fact most are not.
Used correctly, ';Arab'; refers only to those peoples of the Arabian Peninsula -- Saudis, Yemenites, Omanis, etc. -- who speak Arabic. This does not include Iranians, Iraqis, Afghans, and other Near Eastern countries.
';Islamic'; means ';having to do with Islam';, ';Muslim'; refers to the people of the Islamic faith. It's a subtle distinction.
Because they don't come from Arabia, they come from Persia (Southern Central Asia).
Because they don't speak Arabic, they speak Farsi (Persian)
Because they are not a semitic people like the Arabs
Because Persian cats are woolly little long-haired animals and Arabian sand cats are not. (except for some of the ones in the woods, which might be).
And because they have been fighting the Arabs for about 12 centuries or more.

You have asked about Irak - Historically Iraq did not exist as a country. What is now Iraq used (until the 1920's) to be 3 separate provinces of the old Ottoman Empire. Of these provinces, One was ethnically turkic, - the Northern area which is now Kurdish Iraq. The other two provinces in the South represented the Northern limits of the Arabian lands. The 'marsh Arabs' of the delta are Shia muslims, a religious distinction which they share with the Persians of Iran. Western Irak is an extension of the Syrian desert, inhabited originally by Sunni nomads. The Iraqi cities contained a very cosmopolitan mix of races and religions, as did all the cities of the Ottoman Empire.
It is true to say that Iraq is an Arab country, though the non-Arab part in the North has little or no desire to be part of it.
-------------
Not all Arabs are Muslims. I have two Arabic bibles on my desk at the moment. A lot of Palestinians are Christians. Several very famous ones were...
Islam\Muslim is a Religious classification.
Arab is a racial classification.
While the majority of Iranians are Muslims (and practice a form of Islam), racially they are not Semites and thus not Arabs, they are more closely related to the Indo-Europeans of south east Europe.
Arabic countries speak Arabic as their language. Iranians speak Farci so thus they are not classified as an Arabic country....short and simple
Because the people do not come from Arabia. They are Persian.
Do you think American Muslims should be called Arabs?
yes infact different ...so big difference
arabs are sunni and iranian are shia
its old diffrence as old as1400 years
